Selection Criteria for CEFAC Participants


The target age group of participants in the CEFAC Program ranges from infancy (3months old) to 21 years old. To be considered under-privileged and qualify for care under the CEFAC Program, an individual must meet one of the following criteria:

 A person who is considered an orphan
An orphan is described as a child who has not been adopted although his/her
(a) parents are dead or
(b) has been deprived of all forms of parental care*

 A person who is considered homeless
A homeless child is considered a dependent of parents/guardians who are
(a) Unable to acquire and maintain regular, safe, secure, and adequate housing or
(b) Lack fixed, regular, and adequate night-time residence.

 Is person who is dependent on poor parents
(a) Declaration and proof by parents that they are unable to provide means to support family based on the ratio of average annual income to size of the family household
(b) Children who are at risk of losing parental care*


* The primary responsibility for the upbringing and development of the child lies with the child’s caregiver(s). This may be the biological parent(s), a member of the extended family or another person who has taken on the parental role. This role may be shared acc ording to family composition or culturally appropriate practices.  

For scholarships and internships, participants must meet a specified grade point average.
